dotWhat age must you be to drive a car?
To drive a car on a public road you must be at least 17 years of age and hold a UK provisional driving licence.

Where do I apply for a provisional licence?
You will need application form D1 and photo card application form D750. Applications for your provisional licence can be made 3 months before your birthday. You can also apply online for your provisional licence.

Will I have to of passed my theory test before I can take driving lessons?
For taking driving lessons you will need to have a valid provisional licence only.

To book your theory test, call the DSA on 0300 200 1122 or book your theory test online. You will need a credit / debit card to pay and your provisional licence number.

How much does the theory test cost?
Currently the cost of the theory test is £31.00

When can I take my practical driving test?
You will need your provisional driving licence and to have passed your theory test.

What is the cost of the practical driving test?
During the week, test fees are £62.00. On a Saturday the fee is £75.00.

How much do your driving lessons cost?
Our driving lessons are £22.00 per hour. If lessons are block booked then discounts apply.

  • 10 - 19 hours .......(£21.50 per hour pre-paid)
  • 20 - 29 hours ...... (£21.00 per hour pre-paid)
  • 30 - 40 hours....... (£20.50 per hour pre-paid)
  • 40 plus hours.......(£20.00 per hour pre-paid)

What cars do you provide?
We use different cars. All our cars are small and easy to drive, ideal for driving test manoeuvres. Vehicles are well maintained and fully insured for learner drivers.

What car will I use for my driving test?
You will use exactly the same car for your test as you have had during your driving lessons.

Can I take automatic driving lessons with you?
We only provide manual tuition at this time.

How many driving lessons could I take per week?
Providing the driving instructor can fit them in, as many as you wish. The more lessons you take, the faster you will reach test standard.

Over what duration are your intensive courses taken?
We don't have a set period for intensive courses due to everybody's schedule being different. A 30 hour intensive for example can be taken over one week or spread over several weeks.

How many driving lessons do I need before I can take my driving test?
On average, our students gain test standard in around 30 hours. 15 hour less that the DSA calculate learners need.
